MS 89-79 consists of papers of the Ladies' Auxiliary, Michigan Department, Veterans of World War I, USA, Inc., for the years 1916, 1956, 1963-1985. The first series of papers are organizational papers and memorabilia (1963-85), which documents Roscommon Barracks #208, which was later renamed the John C. Clark Barracks #208 (ca. 1963). In addition, it includes minutes of Macomb County Barracks #40 (1980-84). The series also includes sympathy cards (1983-85); programs for the annual conventions; proceedings of the Auxiliary meetings (1976-85); a roster of members (1980-81); a program for the national convention held in Hot Springs, Arkansas (1979); a booklet detailing the rituals of the Auxiliary (no date); issues of the General orders, a one-page newsletter of the Department (1979-83); and a history of Barracks #208, written by John C. Clark. The second series are publications (1916, 1956, 1977, 1984-85). Includes: newspapers The torch (1983-85) and World War I news (1984-85); Privates' manual (1916), by James A. Moss; Must they sell apples again? (1956), by Raymond J. Jeffreys; and The day we bough history (1977).
